Police in Delta, B.C., have charged a woman with attempted murder after an incident last month in which she allegedly tried to drive a car carrying two young children into the Fraser River.
According to the Delta Police Department, officers responded to reports of an SUV stuck on the foreshore of the Fraser River on Nov. 29. A photograph provided by authorities shows the white vehicle surrounded by reeds, indicating it had not entered the water.
Delta firefighters and bystanders assisted in rescuing the driver and the two children, who were transported to the hospital.
The woman, whose identity has not been disclosed due to a publication ban protecting the children's identities, remains in custody. She faces two charges of attempted murder in connection with the incident.
Police have not released further details about the case at this time.
