Two men were taken to hospital after an early morning shooting outside a gas station in Surrey, prompting a major police investigation that kept a busy intersection closed for much of Sunday morning. Police say the shooting happened just before 4 a.m. outside the Chevron near 72 Avenue and 152 Street.

Surrey Police Service said officers arrived to find two men suffering from gunshot wounds. Both victims were rushed to hospital, and while police initially described them as being in critical condition, later updates said one man was in serious but stable condition and the other was in stable condition.

Major Crimes unit leading investigation

The Surrey Police Service Major Crimes Section has taken over the investigation. Officers closed the area around the gas station as they examined the scene and gathered evidence. As of the latest public update, no suspects had been identified.

Police say the motive remains under investigation, but investigators do not currently believe the shooting is connected to the extortion-related violence that has affected Surrey over the past year. Surrey Police continue to maintain a dedicated extortion response effort separately from this case.

Police asking for witnesses and video

Investigators are asking anyone who witnessed the shooting, or who has dashcam or surveillance video from the area around the time of the incident, to contact Surrey Police. The shooting took place at a prominent intersection, and officers are hoping nearby cameras or witness accounts will help clarify what happened.
