A high-ranking RCMP officer in British Columbia is facing criminal charges after an alleged off-duty incident earlier this summer.
Assistant Commissioner David Teboul, the Mountie in charge of federal policing for the Pacific Region, has been charged with three counts of assault, the B.C. Prosecution Service (BCPS) confirmed Friday.
The allegations stem from July 2 in Abbotsford. Prosecutors say one complainant is tied to two charges—assault and assault by choking—while a second complainant is connected to another assault charge.
Teboul has been with the RCMP since 1997 and took on his current leadership role in 2024. Given his senior position, the BCPS appointed an outside lawyer, Vancouver-based prosecutor Andi MacKay, to oversee the case. Officials said the move was to ensure there was no “real or perceived improper influence” in handling the matter.
Teboul is scheduled to make his first appearance at Abbotsford Law Courts on Oct. 9.
