Richmond RCMP Officer Charged After Alleged Theft From Wallet

A Richmond RCMP officer has been charged after allegedly stealing money from a wallet that had been provided to him for safekeeping while he was on duty.
Const. Jae Suk Choi was charged Wednesday with theft under $5,000 and breach of trust, according to the B.C. Prosecution Service.
The alleged offence took place on Christmas Day.
Officer Accused of Taking Money While on Duty
According to a court document, Choi is accused of committing a breach of trust by “stealing money from a wallet provided to him for safekeeping in his capacity as an on-duty police officer.”
The charges have not been proven in court.
Choi’s first court appearance is scheduled for June 16.
Case Investigated by Coquitlam RCMP
Prosecutors said the investigation was handled by the Coquitlam RCMP.
The B.C. Prosecution Service also said the charges were approved by a prosecutor who has no connection to Choi.
