Richmond RCMP have released surveillance video as part of an ongoing investigation into a reported kidnapping in the parking lot of a Richmond restaurant late Friday night. Police say the incident happened at about 10:10 p.m. on April 24 outside Bamboo Grove Restaurant at 6920 No. 3 Road.

According to investigators, officers were called after a witness reported seeing a man being forced into a pickup truck by two men shortly after leaving the restaurant. Police say they reviewed available surveillance footage and are now asking additional witnesses to come forward.

Police identify suspect vehicle

RCMP say the suspect vehicle is believed to be a grey 2013 Dodge Ram 1500 with a sunroof, mud flaps and a triple ball hitch. Investigators also said an earlier reference to a Ford F-150 was incorrect. At the time of the incident, the truck is believed to have been displaying B.C. licence plate RF541V.

Police say the Dodge Ram had previously been reported stolen out of Maple Ridge on Sept. 27, 2025. As part of the investigation, officers have also seized a Volkswagen Jetta seen in the surveillance video, which they say was involved in the incident as well.

Investigators seeking witnesses and video

The Richmond RCMP Serious Crime Unit has now taken over the investigation. Police say there were a number of people and vehicles in the parking lot at the time, and they are hoping to speak with anyone who may have seen what happened.

Investigators are also asking Tesla owners who were parked nearby to check for possible Sentry Mode footage, and they want to hear from anyone with dashcam or security video from the area around the time of the incident. Members of the public are being told not to approach the suspect vehicle and to call 911 immediately if they see it.
