Police Investigate Three Long Weekend Shootings Across Lower Mainland

Police are investigating three separate shootings across the Lower Mainland over the long weekend, with two people taken to hospital suffering serious injuries.

The incidents happened in Vancouver, Abbotsford and Delta between Saturday night and Sunday morning.

No arrests have been announced in connection with the shootings.

Person Shot at Vancouver Convenience Store

Vancouver police responded to a weapons call at a convenience store near Main Street and East 16th Avenue at approximately 7:15 a.m. PT Sunday.

B.C. Emergency Health Services said one person was transported to hospital in serious condition.

Vancouver Police Department Const. Darren Wong said the early-morning timing of the shooting did little to lessen concerns about public safety.

“It doesn't matter what time it is, if it's two o'clock in the morning or in this case where it was reported to us that someone had suffered a gunshot wound at 7 a.m., that is very concerning for us and it should be concerning for anyone living in the City of Vancouver,” Wong said.

Police said the motive remains under investigation.

No arrests had been made.

Shots Fired at Vehicle in Abbotsford

The first of the three incidents occurred in Abbotsford at approximately 11 p.m. PT Saturday.

Police said occupants of a dark-coloured SUV fired multiple rounds at another vehicle on McCallum Road near South Fraser Way.

No injuries were reported.

A short time later, officers were called to Sunnyside Place after an SUV was found on fire.

Investigators believe the shooting was targeted and are examining whether the burned vehicle is connected to the incident.

Delta Shooting Sends One to Hospital

The second shooting happened in Delta at approximately 4:30 a.m. PT Sunday.

Police were called to 64th Avenue near the Highway 91 onramp.

B.C. Emergency Health Services said one person was transported to hospital with serious injuries.

Investigators are searching for a grey Kia Forte believed to be connected with the shooting.

Police Seeking Witnesses and Video

Investigations into all three incidents remain ongoing.

Police are asking anyone who witnessed suspicious activity or has dashcam, security camera or cellphone footage recorded around the relevant locations and times to contact their local police department.

Authorities have not indicated whether any of the three shootings are connected.
