Police say a man was fatally stabbed near Commercial-Broadway SkyTrain Station on Tuesday evening, marking the city’s first homicide of 2026.
In a statement, the Vancouver Police Department said officers were called to reports of a stabbing around 8:40 p.m. PT near East 10th Avenue and Commercial Drive.
The victim was transported to hospital but later died from his injuries. Police have identified him as 48-year-old Christopher Jumal Sanderson.
Investigators say no arrests have been made and the circumstances surrounding the stabbing remain under investigation.
The area around the station, a major transit hub in Vancouver, saw a police presence Tuesday night as officers canvassed for witnesses and evidence.
Police are asking anyone who witnessed the incident or has information that could assist investigators to contact the Vancouver Police Department.
