Investigators Deployed After Two Planes Collide Mid-Air Near Chilliwack Airport

The Transportation Safety Board is deploying investigators to Chilliwack, B.C., after two small aircraft collided in mid-air near the city’s airport on Monday.
The safety board said the crash involved two Cessna 172 aircraft near Chilliwack Airport.
B.C. Emergency Health Services dispatched five ambulances to the area of Wolfe Road and Schweyey Road after receiving a call at approximately 5:15 p.m. PT.
No patients were transported to hospital, the agency said.
Investigators Expected at Crash Site
The Transportation Safety Board said its investigators are expected to arrive at the site Tuesday afternoon.
The team will gather information and assess the circumstances surrounding the collision.
The board is an independent federal agency responsible for investigating aviation, marine, pipeline and rail transportation incidents with the goal of improving safety.
No additional information about the occupants of the aircraft or the extent of the damage was immediately provided.
