A cargo plane operating under Amazon Prime Air overshot the north runway at Vancouver International Airport (YVR) early Tuesday morning, prompting a temporary closure and flight disruptions.
YVR officials confirmed the CargoJet flight landed around 1:45 a.m. PT but overran the eastern boundary of the runway. The incident involved three crew members, who safely exited the aircraft without injuries. Emergency teams, including airport fire and rescue personnel, were deployed to the scene.
As a result, the north runway is closed, and airport operations are being impacted. Passengers are advised to check with airlines for real-time updates on flight schedules.
The Transportation Safety Board of Canada (TSB) has initiated an investigation into the incident and has dispatched a team to collect evidence and assess the circumstances. YVR has not yet provided a timeline for reopening the runway.
