Former Campbell River Christian School Teacher Sentenced to 18 Months for Possessing Child Sexual Abuse Material

A former teacher at a Christian school in Campbell River, B.C., has been sentenced to 18 months in jail after pleading guilty to possession of child sexual abuse and exploitation material.

The B.C. Prosecution Service said Jeffrey Falk’s jail sentence will be followed by two years of probation.

The sentence was imposed Tuesday and resulted from a joint submission by Crown and defence.

Court Imposes Additional Restrictions

Along with the jail term and probation, the court imposed a DNA order, a forfeiture order and a prohibition order.

The prohibition prevents Falk from attending certain places where children are commonly present, including public parks, public swimming areas, daycares, schoolgrounds, playgrounds and community centres.

He is also prohibited from seeking employment or volunteer positions that would place him in a position of trust or authority over anyone under the age of 18.

Investigation Began With U.S. Tip

Campbell River RCMP said the investigation began after police received information in May 2025 from the U.S.-based National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.

The tip involved a Campbell River IP address that police said had been used to upload an image qualifying as child sexual abuse and exploitation material.

Officers later searched Falk’s home in June.

Police said the search uncovered a “substantial collection” of illegal material, including both images and videos.

Campbell River RCMP Const. Maury Tyre said investigators ultimately recovered thousands of images during the investigation.

Falk Left School After Investigation Became Known

Falk had been employed as a teacher at Campbell River Christian School until July 2025.

The school said last October that Falk “left” his position on the same day administrators became aware of the police investigation.

Following his sentencing, school principal Dennis Peeman issued a statement acknowledging the outcome of the case.

Peeman said the matter had caused significant pain for those directly affected as well as the broader school community.

He said the school does not condone Falk’s conduct.

“The safety, protection, and well-being of children remain among our highest responsibilities, and we are grateful for the work of the RCMP and the justice system in addressing this matter,” Peeman said.

“As a Christian school, we seek to respond with truth, compassion, and a steadfast commitment to the example of Jesus Christ. We continue to pray for healing, strength, and peace for all those impacted.”

Falk will serve his 18-month custodial sentence before beginning the two-year probation period and remaining subject to the court-imposed restrictions.
