B.C. Conservative Campaign Manager and Executive Director Angelo Isidorou Steps Down

The political strategist widely credited with helping lead the resurgence of the Conservative Party of British Columbia is stepping down from his roles as the party’s campaign manager and executive director.

Angelo Isidorou announced his departure in a joint news release Thursday, saying he is leaving on “amicable and mutual terms” with new party leader Kerry-Lynne Findlay.

Isidorou said Findlay is leading the party into its next chapter with a fresh mandate.

Isidorou Highlights Party’s Rapid Growth

In announcing his departure, Isidorou pointed to the Conservative Party’s significant growth during his tenure.

“In just a few short years, we made history, surging to unprecedented support, presenting a powerful modern brand, fueled by the largest membership in the province, all under a multi-million-dollar organization,” he said.

“Most importantly, we came within a hair of forming a majority government.”

The B.C. Conservatives had generally polled in the low single digits for decades before beginning a dramatic rise following Isidorou’s appointment and John Rustad’s selection as party leader in 2023.

The party’s position was further strengthened when B.C. United suspended its 2024 provincial election campaign less than two months before voting day.

The Conservatives ultimately became British Columbia’s Official Opposition.

Findlay Thanks Isidorou for Continuity

Findlay said she appreciated the continuity Isidorou provided during the party’s recent leadership transition.

She was elected Conservative leader in May after Rustad resigned from the position.

Rustad, who led the party during the 2024 election, stepped down after more than half of the Conservative caucus called for his removal.

Isidorou’s departure prompted messages of support from provincial and federal Conservative politicians on social media.

Langley-Abbotsford MLA Harman Bhangu described Isidorou as one of the “key architects” of the B.C. Conservative revival while emphasizing that the party’s rebuild had been a team effort.

“Angelo was right at the centre of it, leading with dedication, hard work, and an unwavering commitment to the cause,” Bhangu wrote on X.

Conservatives Praise Role in Party’s Revival

Federal Conservative MP Aaron Gunn said the provincial party would not exist in its current form without Isidorou.

“Alongside a few others, he transformed the party from total obscurity to within a hair’s breadth of forming government,” Gunn said.

Peazzi contacted Isidorou for further comment, but he declined to comment immediately.

In the announcement, Isidorou said he intends to remain involved in political advocacy beyond British Columbia.

“I am excited for my next chapter, where I will continue fighting back against the radical policies that plague the western world, beyond just B.C.,” he said.
