A late-night fire that engulfed an industrial uniform and linen supplier in Prince George, B.C., caused extensive damage and shut down a major highway for several hours, according to city officials.

The blaze broke out around 8:45 p.m. PT Tuesday at Spotless Uniform and Linen, located in the 3900 block of Kenworth Road along the Hart Highway (Highway 97) on the city's north side. Crews from four fire halls were dispatched to the scene as thick smoke began pouring from the building.

Community-shared photos and videos on social media showed emergency vehicles surrounding the property, with flames visible from inside the facility shortly after 9 p.m. The fire intensified later in the night, prompting RCMP to close Highway 97 as a safety precaution.

In a statement, Prince George Fire Rescue Service estimated the damage at approximately $1.9 million. Fortunately, no injuries have been reported.

Spotless Uniform and Linen provides industrial cleaning, dry cleaning, and uniform services across British Columbia and Alberta, according to the company’s website.

The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
