19-Year-Old Dies After Assault and Abduction in Abbotsford, Found Injured in Surrey

A 19-year-old man who was assaulted and forcibly taken away in a vehicle in Abbotsford, B.C., has died, prompting a homicide investigation, police confirmed on Tuesday.

According to the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT), witnesses reported seeing the young man being attacked just before 2 a.m. PT on Jan. 27 near the 2900-block of Victoria Street in Abbotsford.

Three hours later, he was discovered in Surrey’s Crescent Beach area, suffering from severe injuries. He was rushed to the hospital but later succumbed to his injuries.

Police Investigating Targeted Attack

IHIT Sgt. Freda Fong expressed condolences to the victim’s family, calling the incident a tragic loss of a young life.

“The victim had his whole life ahead of him, and sadly, his family is now left in grief with many unanswered questions,” Fong said in a statement.

While the motive for the attack remains unclear, investigators believe it was targeted and are actively speaking with witnesses to uncover more details.
